Caribbean Coast Charters
Barra del Colorado
Fishing along Costa Rica's Caribbean coast can vary more from one day to another than from month to month. Historically, tarpon fishing has been promoted by the lodges on Costa Rica's east coast during the dry season, from about December through mid May, while snook traditionally peak from about September through November. But the fish are there year round, and it's mostly a matter of weather, which can change overnight. If the river drops or the surf is low enough to let you outside the river mouth, it's likely you'll catch fish. The re are a lot of flat days in October and November when tarpon are abundant, and some of the best fishing has consistently been in June and July. There are no roads into the area, and access is via the in-country airlines, charter flights, or by boat through the Tortuguero Canal system from Limon

The Rio Indio Adventure Lodge, located on the banks of the San Juan River, is a gateway to the wild and virtually unexplored Rio Indio-Maiz Biological Reserve in southeastern Nicaragua. The magical wilderness reserve, which spans 640,000 acres, is the largest lowland tropical rainforest north of the Amazon. Tropical lowland forest, mangrove estuaries, mile upon mile of jungle waterways, lagoons and pristine Caribbean beaches make exploring the reserve a truly unique and remarkable experience. With more than 600 species of birds and 200 species of mammals, the area is the ultimate destination for eco-tourists seeking adventure at its bests. A flotilla of fully outfitted 15-foot boats navigated by expert bilingual guides is at your service for sport fishing in inland fresh water areas (lagoons, channels, rivers, estuaries) or in the ocean, weather permitting. Pargo and robalo are species easy to catch in these waters.. The many tours at Rio Indio Lodge can be personalized to suit your interests. Choose from among activities such as birding, walks, natural history hikes, kayaking, horseback riding, sport fishing, river and beach exploration and more. Of course, you're always welcome to grab a book and just relax - but with so much going on we doubt you'll want to read for long!

The Silver King Lodge has emerged as a premier fishing resort for world-class tarpon and snook. The lodge is located in the lush tropical environment on the banks of the Rio Colorado at the northeastern point of Costa Rica. Average size of the tarpon taken at the Silver King Lodge is around 80 pounds and fish to 207 pounds have been brought to gaff. Set the hook hard when they strike, then watch the water erupt as they head for the stratosphere, leaping and twisting clear of the water eight or twelve times! For snook you will troll along the banks of the quiet jungle river or drift silently into a likely lagoon, plugging toward the brush. There are also tranquil lagoons and major rivers offering light-tackle action for guapote (black bass), machaca (shad like), and exotically covered mojarra (sunfish). Silver King Lodge has 10 new deep V center console boats to fish the open waters. These boats are 23' with an out bracket holding 150 horse power 1996 Yamaha outboards. The lodge has an enclosed Jacuzzi where hors d'oeuvres and drinks are served poolside. Spacious duplex cabins have attractive rooms, each with 2 full-size beds, ceiling fans, reading lamps, and tiled bathroom with hot shower.
