Arenal Volcano-Monteverde-Manuel Antonio 7 Days 6 Nights

 

Day One

Airport pick up and transfer to your hotel in La Fortuna de San Carlos at the base of Arenal Volcano.

The hotsprings is a relaxing experience at the base of one of the most active volcanoes in the world. The climate here is hot as the town has an elevation of 250 meters above sea level. (660 feet).

Day Two

Tour to Caño Negro wild life refugee. This is a boat ride in the northern land os Costa Rica. This day you will see crocodiles, monkeys, sloths, iguanas, a lot of water birds and rich flora.

Day Three

The perfect day for horse back riding. On this tour you will be taking horsebackriding to a beautiful waterfall where you can swim and enjoy under the shade of dense vegetation.

Day four

Depart from La Fortuna (Arenal Volcano area) to Monteverde Cloud Forest, where a different climate awaits for us. The temperature here is nice and keeps foggy most of the time.

Upon arrival, we register in a hotel in town and then proceed to visit the butterfly farm or the serpentarium.

Monteverde is a town founded by Quakers who came in the fifties from Alabama. The group was formed by peacefull people who decided that the United Sates was not the best place to live due to the inminent risk of another war and the economic situation left by second world war.

The Quakers stablished in the highest pick of the mountain and started their lives by surviving from agriculture. Today, their descendants own the cheese factory in Monteverde as well as many other bussiness in town.

Day five

The main activity here is the walking tour in the preserve, a place just seen on tv with a unique vegetation and the most beautiful birds like the quetzal who was considered a deity by the mayan indians.

There other optional tours available here like skywalk or canopy.

Day six

Depart to Manuel Antonio National Park. The drive from Monteverde to Manuel Antonio is 6 hours approximatley. As soon as we arrive you can enjoy the white sand beaches of Manuel Antonio untill it gets dark.

Day seven

This is the area of Costa Rica where you can see four varieties of monkeys. All jungles have only three varieties except here where you can find the Titií monkey (Squirrel monkey).

This is your day to walk in the jungle again, but this time in the transition forest where the vegetations offer a scenary thet makes you feel like the old pirates hiding treasures in the jungles beside the beach.
